We are a community creating a festival at the intersection of justice, spirituality and art. The first festival took place in June 2011; the next one is June 21-24 2012. We take inspiration from many places, such as Greenbelt, Burning Man, the Iona Community, SXSW, and others. The festival is open to everyone; we don’t censor what can be said; we invite respectful - but fearless - conversation and action for the common good.
The Wild Goose is a Celtic spirituality metaphor that evokes unpredictability, beauty, and grace. The festival resonates with this image because we recognize that in the current climate of religious and political division and lack of civility, embracing the creative and open nature of our faith is perhaps our greatest asset for re-building and strengthening our relationships with each other, with our enemies, with our stories, our questions, and the other. In that spirit, in an informal setting, and in the context of creative and respectful relationships, we invite you to imagine a new world with us.

Wild Goose is a different kind of event: informal, relaxed, participatory. In order to facilitate this, we have to implement some safety and community guidelines. Please read these before purchasing your ticket.

The Wild Goose is a participatory festival. Your wristband gains you entrance, but our space is intentionally flexible and open. Once you are here you will be encouraged to join in with the community spirit. We will be sharing tasks and resources together; for instance, we hope that people might share meals or even be willing to help out a bit while you are here - small tasks like picking up trash if you see it on the grounds, sharing food with your neighbors, and taking part in conversations with people you don't know are all things we will encourage in hopes of creating a truly community-based festival.
At the Wild Goose Festival, we are intentionally keeping ticket prices as low as possible, asking people who attend to share resources - traveling, eating and camping together in groups whereever possible. But we don't want money to be the reason for you not to attend. Please feel free to contact us if you think you will be unable to attend for financial reasons. We will let you know about options to make the festival accessible to you, no matter what you can afford.
Support the Festival
In order to make scholarships available - and have the best festival experience possible - we need people willing to becoming part of ongoing support of the festival. We encourage you to consider becoming a member of the Wild Goose Wings to ensure the future of the festival! To learn more about Wild Goose Wings click here.
For safety, comfort, and care for the environment no driving around the festival grounds is permitted. Note for Vehicle Campers: Please have your vehicle and RV on site by 2pm on Thursday 21st June. All vehicles other than the RV itself must be removed by 4pm on Thursday. Please note that once the festival commences your vehicle cannot leave the site except in the case of an emergency. If you are unable to attend the entire event you must let the parking attendants know this when you arrive, and we will provide alternative parking for your RV adjacent to the main parking lot.
Please help us reduce our waste by following this simple request - if you bring it with you, take it home! If you need some trash bags, just ask! Please sort glass, aluminum, plastic, cardboard & trash. Food vendors are using all compostable utensils and paper products at the festival. In the food vendor area you will find compost, recycling, and trash containers - please sort any trash (plastic, aluminum, foil etc.) from your left over food, paper plates, cups and napkins and the utensils from food vendors and COMPOST THEM! We are also encouraging people to bring re-fillable water containers as there will be spigots providing good drinking water around the site.
We will have both a beer tent and a cafe serving non-alcoholic beverages on site; 12 Step meetings will be offered daily to anyone who wishes to participate. It is hugely important to us that everyone feels comfortable, respected, and safe during their time at Wild Goose. Public intoxication and drug use are not acceptable on or near the festival site; underage drinking is illegal. We reserve the right to intervene with inappropriate behavior, and will ask people to leave the site if necessary.
We kindly request that the Wild Goose and Shakori Hills festival site be treated with respect at all times. Thanks!
