Volunteer Info

We are a community creating a festival at the intersection of justice, spirituality and art. The first festival took place in June 2011; the next one is June 21-24 2012. We take inspiration from many places, such as Greenbelt, Burning Man, the Iona Community, SXSW, and others. The festival is open to everyone; we don’t censor what can be said; we invite respectful - but fearless - conversation and action for the common good.

The Wild Goose is a Celtic spirituality metaphor that evokes unpredictability, beauty, and grace. The festival resonates with this image because we recognize that in the current climate of religious and political division and lack of civility, embracing the creative and open nature of our faith is perhaps our greatest asset for re-building and strengthening our relationships with each other, with our enemies, with our stories, our questions, and the other. In that spirit, in an informal setting, and in the context of creative and respectful relationships, we invite you to imagine a new world with us.

All volunteers are requested to work at least 16 hours over the course of the festival. Those sixteen hours are broken into four shifts, at four hours per shift. In return, volunteers will receive full weekend tickets and camping passes, a t-shirt, and breakfast on each morning of the festival.

1. Volunteers will be required to attend one general training meeting on-site with your Crew and Crew Chief prior to your first shift. Meeting dates and times will be vary, but be linked to your shifts. There will be no need to arrive earlier than you would be planning to otherwise. Meeting details will be given to you by your Crew Chief after Crews have been selected.

2. There will be kids and youth programs available to festival goers. Volunteers are also welcome to take advantage of them for their children ages 5 and up. Separate children's tickets may be purchased or you may apply for a partial or full scholarship for your children. 3. Youth ages 14 to 18 are welcome to join the volunteer crews. If you are under 18 please fill out the Parental Consent Form and bring it with you to your first training meeting.

Shift Groups:

Pre-Festival: June 18-19

Teams Include: Check-in, Hospitality, Parking, Rangers, Parking, Trash/Recycling/Compost, Set-up, Vibe Team

Festival: June 21-24

Teams Include: Everything listed on the Volunteer Teams page except set up and breakdown crews.

Post-Festival: June 25-28th

Teams Include: Everything listed on Volunteer Crews page except set-up.

Hourly Shifts

You will be able to specify shift and many other preferences on the Volunteer Sign-Up Form. Not all teams will be working all shifts. For example, only the Rangers, who offer site security, will be working through the night.

Shift Times (4 hr shifts)

1. 8am - 12pm
2. 12pm - 4pm
3. 4pm - 8pm
4. 8pm - 12am
5. 12am - 4am
6. 4am - 8am

The morning Hospitality crew shift and ALL Check-in team shifts begins 30 minutes earlier than all other crews.
